Between July 5 and 8, 2018, Madrid will host the XIII World Congress of the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (WAPR), organized by FEARP (Spanish Federation of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Associations, www.fearp.org ) and Spanish Association of Neuropsychiatry (AEN, www.aen.es ).
The congress has been presented in Madrid, with presence of professionals, technicians and social leaders from different parts of Spain. It is expected that 1500 professionals participate in the congress, which will also integrate sections and activities for caregivers and service users.
This is a congress about psychosocial treatment and rehabilitation of people with mental illness. It will focus on a comprehensive update of the scientific and social aspects of the problem, focusing especially on the Recovery Model, and review current issues regarding human rights and citizenship implications in this field.
The presetationwas introduced by Rafael Cristina (AMRP), with speaches from Presentation Ricardo Guinea, President of WAPR; Jaime Fernández, president of FEARP; Mikel Munárriz, President of AEN; Guadalupe Morales, user representative in WAPR and President of Bipolar World, Francisco Sardina, representative of families in WAPR and President of the Board of Trustees of Fundación Manantial; and Nel Anxelu, President of the Confederation Mental Health Spain. All speakers expressed their support for the congress and their enthusiasm for participating in it.
The event was completed by a conference of Psychiatrist Antonio Maone, from Rome (Italy), presenting the book “Recovery, a new paradigm in mental health” theme intimately connected with the congress, with translation of Carmen Ferrer.
