This issue of the WAPR Bulletin carries forward the theme of the WAPR World Congress and PSR Canada Recovery Conference in Vancouver, Embracing Hope: A Global Perspective on Recovery and Psychosocial Rehabilitation. The artwork kindly provided by the Vancouver Art Gallery from the exhibition Emily Carr: Navigating an Impenetrable Landscape reinforces the essential message of growth and resilience amid global uncertainty and increasing threats to democracy and human rights. The issue brings the voices, research, and lived experiences of a truly global community to readers who were unable to attend, highlighting recovery-oriented and human rights–based practices, peer support, and innovation in psychosocial rehabilitation across diverse cultural and political contexts. It features the new WAPR President’s message, selected keynote and symposium contributions, critical reflections on medication and recovery, perspectives from multiple countries, and creative reporting from the congress itself. The issue also situates this work within broader social realities, including Indigenous truth and reconciliation in Canada and ongoing global challenges to advancing human rights– and recovery-oriented mental health care and psychosocial rehabilitation.
